RockSolidRace - Silverstone Woodlands
It's a given that you have to be a little bit wild to work for Cashino, however there's a small group of people work in our Milton Keynes Head Office that are a littel crazier than most! So much so that they entered this year's RockSolidRace held at Silverstone Woodlands on the 12th of October, which is a full on cocktail of mud, sweat and team work that pushed their mettle to the max. The course was designed by the obstacle racing specialists in the UK, so they were in for a real treat! The obstacles were a mix of mega-man-made structures, various water features and all set over very challenging terrain. They selected the 10k endurance race which had 46 obstacles to defeat - to include diving into a skip full of ice, crawling through thick mud enclosed under barbed wire, 8ft walls to climb and a 4mtr drop into a cold and muddy lake to name but a few! Needless to say they all made it to the finish line; albeit not quite as pretty or as energetic as they were 90 minutes prior! WELL DONE GUYS!!!
Same place, same time next year...?!
Praesepe Aim High with Great Britain Sponsorship
Praesepe, which operates a total of 170 adult gaming centres, bingo clubs and family entertainment centres in 100 towns and cities throughout Great Britain is extending its support of one of the country’s most successful sports following confirmation that its Cashino and Beacon Bingo brands will jointly sponsor the senior GB Taekwondo team as well as the inaugural World Taekwondo Grand Prix, being held in Manchester in December. The agreement will support GB athletes such as 2012 Olympians Jade Jones, Lutalo Muhammad and Martin Stamper in their preparations for the prestigious Grand Prix event which will see the UK host the world’s best Taekwondo athletes.
Reflecting on the sponsorship Steve Flynn, GB Taekwondo Operations Director said: “We’re delighted to be working with a patriotic organisation that is committed to supporting our GB team in its preparations for both the World Taekwondo Grand Prix, an exciting addition to the international calendar, and our long term target Rio 2016. The partnership will enable us to promote the sport to a wider audience whilst enabling us to engage with Cashino and Beacon staff and customers alike, giving them direct access to a unique and dynamic Olympic sport.”
Commenting on the new partnership, Praesepe CEO, Nick Harding, said: ”During London 2012 it was noticeable quite how patriotic our customers were and how involved they became in the Games as Team GB won medal after medal. As a truly national company we felt that it would be a really positive move to get behind one of our Olympians and we found that Taekwondo gold medallist Jade Jones had a high level of recognition and registered very positively with our customers. After agreeing a deal to sponsor Jade, the next logical step was the senior GB team and the World Taekwondo Grand Prix both of which we have now concluded. The sponsorship will work on a number of levels both in terms of engaging with our 1,200 staff and the 500,000 customers who each year frequent our 170 venues and bingo clubs throughout Britain.”
The World Taekwondo Grand Prix takes place at Manchester Central on December 13-15, 2013. Tickets for the event are currently on sale. For further information visit www.gbtaekwondo.co.uk
Praesepe raise the bar with £100,000 CHIPS donation
Praesepe, which operates the UK’s largest chain of adult gaming centres as well as the Beacon brand of bingo clubs, made history last week when it presented a cheque for £100,000 to CHIPS, the gaming industry charity which funds the purchase of bespoke powered wheelchairs for youngsters for whom the NHS cannot or will not help. The cheque, which was presented to Linda Lindsay at the charity’s’ annual golf day held at Wentworth, is the largest single donation CHIPS has received since its formation.
Reflecting on the donation, Linda Lindsay, who helped form CHIPS said: “Its not very often, if ever, that we get the chance to change peoples lives, but so many lives will be changed by this amazing donation from everyone at Praesepe.
£100,000 - gosh it’s a lot of noughts - will change the lives of at least 17 youngsters and their families up and down the UK.
“The children’s’ lives change because they will have the independence to go wherever they want to, whenever they want to, without having to wait for someone, be it family or friend, to take them. The family’s lives will change as they won't have to push a heavy wheelchair anywhere, they will be able to walk alongside the chair chatting instead of always being behind the chair pushing. This is the largest donation that CHIPS Charity has ever received and every single penny will go towards providing powered wheelchairs for youngsters with different disabilities. We at CHIPS are very grateful to everyone at Parsee who has been involved in the fundraising of this superb amount and we look forward to meeting some of them, as we go around the country presenting the chairs.”
Praesepe CEO, Nick Harding who made the presentation said: “I am immensely proud of my team, every single one of whom has in some way sweated and toiled to raise this magnificent sum. When I say everyone, I include Paul Gauselmann our ultimate boss, who was sufficiently inspired by our long-standing and deeply rooted partnership with CHIPS that he wrote a personal cheque to cover the cost of purchasing an additional powered wheel chair. What is so good about our relationship with CHIPS is that the Praesepe family in its widest sense understand what it is all about and have a real empathy with what we are trying to achieve. The sum raised, the equivalent of nearly £60 for everyone employed, is the result of extraordinary people doing extraordinary things for those who are less fortunate.”
To round the proceedings off the Praesepe team comprising: Phil Gibbs, Steve Ambrose, Amos Mataba, David Edwards topped the field of golfers to win the 12th British Gaming Golf Championship

Jade Jones joins team Cashino!
Cashino has added some sporting prowess to its team in the form of London 2012 Olympic Taekwondo gold medalist Jade Jones. The 20-year old has signed a sponsorship agreement with Praesepe’s Cashino AGC brand, which will take her through to the next Olympic Games in Rio 2016.
Explaining the sponsorship, CEO Nick Harding said: “After the London Olympics we wanted to get involved and help an athlete in the lead up to Rio 2016 and after considering a number of athletes we saw Jade and thought she’d be a perfect fit. She’s an inspiration not just for our customers, who will really take to her fantastic personality, but also to our staff. I think we can learn so much from athletes such as Jade whose success is based on dedication, the maintenance of supremely high standards and a ‘can do’ attitude which has taken her to the very top of her chosen sport at a very young age. As well as fitting in personal appearances alongside her training schedule, Jade will be holding some motivational sessions with staff explaining exactly what it takes to get to the top in any occupation. We are all looking forward to developing our relationship with Jade and helping her to Gold in Rio!”
We're delighted to announce the opening of our newest Cashino in the town centre of Poole in what was once a bank! The gentleman in red is in fact the town crier for Poole and not the manager - he officially opened the venue for us by making a speech to the public!
Grangemouth now open!
Actor Jeff Hordley, best known for his role playing boy Cain Dingle in ITV soap Emmerdale, proved a major hit when he was guest of honour at the launch party of the Cashino AGC in Grangemouth, Scotland. Hordley joined Operations Manager Kevin Farnworth, Area Manager and Venue Manager Sharon McNeil in cutting the ribbon to mark the opening of what is the 163rd AGC in the market-leading Cashino estate.
It was a nice sunny day; perfect for the re-launch of the newly branded Cashino venue in Peckham. Richard and his team had made a fantastic job of decorating the venue both internally and externally with help from Joanna from Bromley. A delicious spread of food and beverages was ready and on offer for the grand opening scheduled for 9.00am. One of the regular customers, Mrs Jones, cut the ceremonial ribbon and officially opened its doors. It wasn’t long before customers hit the venue enjoying the food and soaking up the lively atmosphere, which continued to buzz throughout the day. Several new customers signed up to the membership scheme and complimented the services they received.
Well done Richard, Liya, Hossian and Joanna for your efforts over the days leading up to the event and I am sure it will all pay off with some great income figures going forward!
Margate AGC and FEC Opening

CHIPS chips in!
Sophie received her new wheelchair at our High Street Cardiff venue. She has quadriplegia cerebral palsy but Sophie is currently developing her skills to operate a switch on her wheel chair which will allow her to become more independant. Sophie loves the band One Direction and enjoys watching X Factor - shes in general a big music fan!
Zoe received her new wheelchair in Trongate, Glasgow, and is only 12 years old. She suffers from Spina Bifida which affects all aspects of her movement including muscle power and control of her legs. With this new chair, Zoe will now be able to go out with her friends on her own and even reach her favourite treats that her kept in a biscuit tin up high thanks to the chair having high/low lift feature!
It was really worth "chipping" in for CHIPS!
A really memorable time getting her new wheelchair!
Those that know Keeley well describe her as a very chatty friendly teenager, with everything that being a teenager brings with it. She is, quite unlike some of CHIPS recipients, in as much as she is 17 years old who has Cerebral Palsy, is into heavy metal music, shows off lots of piercings and wears black!
“Linda Lindsay, on behalf of CHIPS Charity, describes us as being an amazing company and on behalf of CHIPS she thanks us so much”
Chips Wine and Dine at Argyle Street, Glasgow.
Pauline and her staff at Argyle Street raised an amazing £1,020 for CHIPS and as such reaped the rewards, for all their hard work during the campaign, with a meal at their local Chinese restaurant.
A very tasty meal was had. Laura saved herself all day and if you want a run down on the desserts on offer, Claire is your girl! It was a lovely get together.

Praesepe Charity Football Tournament Raises £10,000
Praesepe’s five-a side foot ball tournament has helped to raise over £10,000 for disabled children’s charity CHIPS. A crowd of close to 500 people came to watch the action at the Power league ground in Milton Keynes, as 16 men’s teams and four ladies sides battled it out for industry bragging rights in glorious weather conditions.
After some exciting matches, the men’s final was played between Farcelona, a side representing Praesepe at Kings Lynn, and E-service, with Farcelona emulating their Spanish almost-namesakes and coming out as victors.
In the women’s final, the formula was not quite right for 4+1=5, representing Cashino Gaming’s Northern area, as they were beaten by 100% Ream, representing Praesepe’s Milton Keynes head office.
For those to young for football Beaky was there too!
At the cup presentation ceremony, Praesepe CEO Nick Harding was assisted by Bethan Hagues, one of many children whose lives have been transformed by a bespoke powered wheelchair bought for them by CHIPS.
Reflecting on a great day of football and fun, Praesepe’s Stephen Lawrence commented: “We would like to thanks all of the players that made the trip to Milton Keynes and gave us all a lot of excitement. I would also like to give my heartfelt thanks to all the volunteers who helped the make the day run as smoothly as it did.”
Lawrence also paid tribute to the many coin-op companies, including Astra Games, Bell-Fruit Games, Cummins Allison, Harry Levy Amusements, Reflex Gaming, RLMS Sales and SE Leisure, who pledged donations, raffle prizes and auction items in support of the event.

Charlotte (Charlie) Walter is 16 years old and suffers from Spinal Muscular Atrophy. She needs to be in a wheelchair all the time and with the high/low facility on the new chair she will be able to look her peers in the eye instead of them always looking down at her or looking straight over the top of her. This new powered wheelchair replaces her old one which belongs to 'Wheelchair Services and has no 'riser' and this would not be available from Wheelchair Services. As you can see the difference made to her life and the lives of her parents is immeasurable.
